Almost there. In another hour this truck will have reached its destination, one of the three diamond mines that is resupplied each year via the ice road known as the Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road (TCWR), which is operated by the Joint Venture.
Sundog
It was my first run up the Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road in 2021 when well past Lockhart Lake a beautiful sun dog greeted me. And I had to take advantage of it. Luckily there was a south and north bound convoy passing through within 20 minutes of each other.

One of those rare days in the winter when the temperature is low, and I mean really low, -35, hardly any presence of wind, no clouds and a large bank of mechanical fog.
Dodging Bullets on Bancroft Lake
Two northbound ice road truckers trying to avoid blowouts and cracks in the ice on Bancroft Lake. The extreme cold temperatures that we have experienced this year have, believe it or not, made the ice brittle.
