Northbound on Pensive Lake
Driver 011 turning the corner on Pensive Lake, NT. It was a cold morning and a layer of ice fog hung low over the area and made for one heck of sunrise.
Northbound
Some maintenance equipment being floated north on MacKay Lake before a "big blow" came through.

Almost there. In another hour this truck will have reached its destination, one of the three diamond mines that is resupplied each year via the ice road known as the Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road (TCWR), which is operated by the Joint Venture.
Sundog
It was my first run up the Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road in 2021 when well past Lockhart Lake a beautiful sun dog greeted me. And I had to take advantage of it. Luckily there was a south and north bound convoy passing through within 20 minutes of each other.
Northbound on Warburton Bay, NT
A convoy of tankers making their way up the ice road. By this time, large cracks and blow-outs were appearing.
Northbound on MacKay Lake
I caught this northbound convoy just as a snow squall was settling in.
Oversize Northbound
A convoy of oversize loads headed to one of the diamond mines, Diavik or Ekati.
Southboud from Diavik
A fuel truck heading south from the Diavik Diamond Mine, which is in the background. This is about as far as a civilian can go on the ice road.
Clean up
This Kenworth was clearing the lanes after a huge "blow" that lasted a couple of days.
Northbound on Mackay Lake, NT
One of those rare days in the winter when the temperature is low, and I mean really low, -35, hardly any presence of wind, no clouds and a large bank of mechanical fog.
Dodging Bullets on Bancroft Lake
Two northbound ice road truckers trying to avoid blowouts and cracks in the ice on Bancroft Lake. The extreme cold temperatures that we have experienced this year have, believe it or not, made the ice brittle.
Setting sun on Bancroft Lake, NT
Northbound on Portage 54
A convoy of north bound tankers have just started the final stretch to the diamond mines, Diavik or Ekait.
